Exploring Worlds Through Data: Earth, Planets, and the Sun
Welcome to the professional home of Paulo F. Penteado, a scientist specializing in remote sensing and geospatial data science across Earth, planetary, and solar domains.
With over two decades of experience, I develop algorithms and pipelines to explore and transform remote sensing data into knowledge—mapping volcanoes from orbit, revealing the haze and clouds of Titan, tracking solar wind structures, and creating tools that enable discovery across massive data archives. My work spans hyperspectral imaging, radiative transfer modeling, and mission design, from deep space with Cassini to near real-time Earth observation with AIRS, and solar imaging with Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter.
I am driven by a passion for mining data to uncover what is typical, what is changing, and what is truly unexpected. From building the first global visualizations of Titan’s methane cycle, to enabling public access to real-time atmospheric products, my goal is always the same: to create insight through innovative processing, parallelized automation, and cross-disciplinary tools.
Whether designing new data products, evolving research workflows into production pipelines, or crafting custom visualizations, I work at the intersection of science and software to advance exploration—from the Earth beneath our feet to the outer edges of the solar system.
